GuidedTransfersLunch

Discover the lush landscapes, hidden valleys, and remarkable underground heritage of Cappadocia on the Green Tour, one of the region’s most captivating full-day experiences.

Your journey begins with a comfortable hotel pick-up, where you will be welcomed by your professional local guide before setting out to explore the southern wonders of Cappadocia. The first highlight of the day is one of the region’s extraordinary Underground Cities, an impressive network of tunnels, living quarters, storage rooms, chapels, and ventilation systems carved deep into the volcanic rock. As you explore this fascinating subterranean settlement, your guide will reveal how thousands of people once lived here in safety for extended periods.

The adventure continues to the spectacular Ihlara Valley, a breathtaking canyon formed by the Melendiz River and renowned for its lush vegetation, dramatic cliffs, and centuries-old rock-cut churches. Enjoy a scenic walk along the peaceful riverside trail while discovering Byzantine cave churches adorned with well-preserved frescoes and surrounded by one of Cappadocia’s most picturesque natural landscapes.

Midday, relax with a delicious lunch at a carefully selected local restaurant set alongside the river, offering the perfect opportunity to enjoy authentic regional cuisine in a tranquil natural setting.

In the afternoon, visit the panoramic Pigeon Valley, famous for its unique volcanic formations and thousands of pigeon houses carved into the cliffs. Learn about the historical importance of pigeons in Cappadocia’s agricultural traditions while taking in breathtaking views across the valley and the surrounding fairy chimneys.

Before returning to your hotel, you will have the opportunity to visit local artisan workshops specializing in traditional onyx stone craftsmanship and authentic regional handicrafts, providing insight into the area's long-standing artistic traditions.

Combining spectacular scenery, ancient history, and authentic cultural experiences, the Green Tour offers an ideal introduction to the diverse landscapes and rich heritage that make Cappadocia one of Türkiye’s most extraordinary destinations.

Questions

There are stairs when descending into and ascending out of Ihlara Canyon, but the riverside walking path inside the canyon is flat, even, and quite easy. This walk of approximately 3-4 kilometers is done at a relaxing pace accompanied by our guide. It does not require high fitness, but wearing comfortable sports shoes is highly recommended. Our guests with serious health issues regarding stairs can inform our guide in advance.

Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. The view of the restaurant in the canyon was amazing, but since too many tour groups arrived at the same time during lunch hour, the service was a bit slow.

The canyon hike and lunch were flawless. However, some tunnels in the underground city were very narrow and low; since I have a slight fear of enclosed spaces, I had a bit of a hard time moving through the tunnels.

Walking by the river in Ihlara Canyon washed away all our fatigue. The underground city is a true engineering marvel, and our guide gave great information. Lunch over the river was very authentic and delicious.

Picked up right on time from our hotel. The vehicles were quite comfortable and air-conditioned. Thanks to the museum entries being included, we didn't wait in any lines at the gates; it was a very comfortable day.
